The universal dock

by Alex Bowden

universal.jpgIt’s ‘universal’. That means it works with everything.

That’s right. Every single kind of iPod.

Because there’s only one company making MP3 players in ‘the universe’.

I vote we test its docking capabilities by running a huge ocean-going cruise liner into it. See how it bears up under that sort of force.

Electrical items should never be dwarfed by the things you plug into them

by Alex Bowden

cube.jpg

Because where will it end? With chargers bigger than MP3 players? With you plugging your MP3 player into some sort of dock?

When it comes to that, we should all rise as one and revolt.

MobiBLU DAH-220 MP3 player is INGENIOUS

by Alex Bowden

mobibludah220.jpgThose tapes that allow you to play stuff off your MP3 player through your car stereo are one of the most ingenious inventions of all time. MobiBLU have taken it to THE NEXT LEVEL.

It may look the same, but it’s not. This isn’t an adapter. It’s an MP3 player in its own right. Plug it into your car stereo and it works the same, only you won’t have wires tangled round your gearstick because it’s all in this one little thing.

So you can keep your old car stereo, safe in the knowledge that no-one’ll nick it because it’s so old and shit, yet you can still enjoy music digitally.

I’ll say it again: Ingenious.

Hands up who’s fooled

by Alex Bowden

waterproof.jpg

It’s a drawing. Just because you show us a drawing of it in water and use the word ‘waterproof’ doesn’t mean it is.

Looks a bit like a submarine though, so maybe I’ll get one anyway.

The perils of small, square MP3 players

by Alex Bowden

sugar.jpgThis picture is supposed to be a joke, but I consider it a recommended course of action.

If there’s even the slightest chance that an MP3 player could be mistaken for some sugar then something’s very wrong. Technology and beverage additives are from different worlds. They should never cross.

Chalk’ll be looking like cheese next. Chalk and cheese are resolutely, famously, not the same.

Naked puppet eats MP3 player

Mmm. A Creative Zen. They’re the tastiest.

More pictures of MP3 players floating against a white background please

by Alex Bowden

white.jpg

No, seriously. Particularly if your product’s white as well.

It all makes it really easy for the likes of me, who’ve got a little bored with writing about the products themselves and instead prefer to make a weak joke about a picture that they’ve found.

Female, furry hat wearing, music enthusiast boxers pay attention

MP3 players are NOT gumshields.

Get a left jab in the chops and you’ll lose your teeth, you imbecile.

So, to confirm: Samsung YP-T6. Not a gumshield.

Sandisk Shaker set to wow kids for a split second or more

You shake it and it changes track.

My CD player does that.

Man Threatens Watch With Potential Replacement

by Alex Bowden

watch.JPGThis is clearly a threat. The owner of the hand, tired with the watch’s lack of ambition has attempted to motivate the offending timepiece by giving it a glimpse of its potential successor.

The young upstart challenger is a haptic MP3 player that apparently vibrates in time to music. If it can vibrate, you’d presume it can remember the time.

Your days a numbered wristwatch.

Does anyone else find the word ‘earbuds’ weirdly offputting?

by Alex Bowden

earbuds.jpg‘Headphones’ I’m fine with. ‘Earphones’ is acceptable. But ‘earbuds’? I don’t know. There’s just something about it.

Can anyone put their finger on it? Why should ‘earbuds’ be so unappealing?

Samsung T9 MP3 Player

by Alex Bowden

t9.jpgWhat the frig is this MP3 player called?

The header of the press release says ‘T9′. The first line of that press release refers to it as ‘the YP-T9′ and then, two lines later, it’s branded, ‘the YP-T9JAB’.

Fortunately, the press release ends there, otherwise Samsung would doubtless tack on a few more meaningless letters to confuse the issue further.

Whatever it is, it comes with some Flash games, including “Baseball” and “Pizza Delivery”. The latter sounds like a winner and should shift a few units for Samsung simply through its presence.

Samsung SGH X830 kleptomaniac reveals the fruits of her endeavours

Six? That’s crap.

The standard of kleptomania in this country is really at rock bottom.

Samsung pocketwatch - let’s wear completely inappropriate clothes for an activity like they used to in Victorian times

by Alex Bowden

This is fantastic. Samsung are now my favourite MP3 player manufacturers. Although it’s a hollow honour, being as I hate all the other ones.

Just look at this. It’s an MP3 player in the style of a pocket watch.

pocketwatch.jpg

Perhaps this will herald a return to the Victorian mentality here in England.

You’ll be dining in your gentleman’s club, as is your custom, when Edmund will wager that you can’t cross the Kalahari desert in less than the time it will take him to sell his late aunt Winifred’s house.

“Very well,” you answer. “I will leave immediately.”

So off you trot, in your top hat and suit with a cane and this pocket watch/MP3 player. You’ll remain in this garb throughout your adventure, never once batting an eyelid at the most punishing hardship. Walking bolt-upright, top hat attached, never once losing your composure.

You succeed and on your return you reveal to Edmund that you also calculated the density of the moon while you were away, as well as charting the migratory paths of four different sorts of bird - one previously undiscovered.
